a new beginning

these are my dear ones peeking out the van at me with gleeful anticipation on fresh monday-morning faces. we are heading out on the road less traveled. a grand, new adventure for our family.

(and I freely confess it to be a journey this mama embarks upon with no small amount of timid trepidation).

over the past month i've poured over various homeschooling methods in books and on blogs, late into the wee morning hours and then again in my sleep.

the trepidation is not so much over our decision to homeschool as where to begin and will i be enough for them. i will admit there's also some what will others think/say, (there's always a little bit of that).

but my gut is unquestionably supportive; in unanimity with my heart it reassures me of the rightness of the path we've chosen.  and i've looked up hopefully to my fellow sister-mothers (with like-minded hearts and guts) congregated online; strangers publishing words of encouragement and stories of success. thank you dear sisters for lighting the path.

this is to be our time. our cherished us time we've allowed ourselves to enjoy despite the prevalence of more common alternatives.
i will challenge fears of failure or inadequacy and trudge on through the dark times til it's light.

i will afford them the space and freedom to discover their innate greatness; their own worthy, uniqueness.

and i will observe them with the curiosity and wonder of a child while they learn, grow and conquer through experiencing life.

these are the promises i offer my little ones.

Did you and Tamara ever think you two would be home schooling parents?! :) As your kids get a little older check out currclick online. I used to teach online classes to homeschoolers. It's got some good resources and ways to stay connected with other kids and home schoolers (like book clubs as one example).
